Description
Mokau Fishing Club’s aim is to support recreational fishing and promote family involvement. We use the Awakino Hotel as our club rooms, and during the summer months, we host BBQs, competitions and prize-givings.

Fishing categories for summer competition
- Boat (Rod fishing)
- Surfcasting
- Diving
- Kite/Kontiki/longline or Drone Fishing (must be anchored from the beach). Fish caught in summer competition may be weighed at Mokau Butcher or the Awakino Hotel where weights will be recorded for summer competition & honours board.
Honours board species may be weighed over membership year 1st Dec 2025 – 30th Nov 2026.
Anglers entitled to weigh fish must be Mokau Fishing Club members with all application forms & subs paid for the current season. All boat owners/skippers need to have the completed boat safety checklist online. Prize Giving (Date to be confirmed).

- Ice Breaker Labour Weekend October 2024 Sat 26th & Sunday 27th.
- Xmas Comp 27th- 30th December 2025 (Four Day Competition).
- Take A Kid Fishing 17st January 2026.
- Ladies Day 21th February 2026.

Fishing boundaries are South between White Cliffs and North Tirau Point as per the Mokau Fishing Club.

- Members will receive a newsletter if you have an email address please fill in on membership form this is our preferred way to send this, it is also available to read on the website. Please also refer to the Facebook page for updates.
